LADY EAGLES SLAY THE GIANT

When the Lady Eagles arrived at the Saddleback Tournament on Monday they knew it wasn't going to be easy. The Ocean View Sea Hawks had compiled a 35-1 record over the past year and are the reigning Division III champions.

Behind strong pitching from Amy Letourneau, who struck out eleven batters in six innings, and timely hitting from Meghan Harman and Kellen McNamara, the Lady Eagles prevailed and defeated the Sea Hawks 3-0.

Harman homered in the third to lead off the inning, which got the Eagles on the board. In the fourth inning, with a runner on third, McNamara hit a hard ground ball to the first base side that went into right field for a base hit that scored Monnahan with the second run of the game.

"I was very proud of the team tonight", said head coach John FitzPatrick. "They were disciplined at the plate, Floetker is tough, and we found a way to beat her."

The Lady Eagles take on Marina in the second round of the tournament tonight. Game time is 6 PM at Alicia Park, in Mission Viejo.
