Coaches Resume
 

John FitzPatrick-   Coach FitzPatrick returns for his fifth season as the Varsity Head Coach of Santa Margarita Catholic High School and his nineteenth year coaching softball.  John has an overall record of 61 wins and 51 losses, including three trips to the CIF playoffs in his four years as the Head Coach. In 2007 Coach FitzPatrick lead the Lady Eagles to their first league title in the history of the school.  John also has worked as an assistant coach from 1999-2001 where the Lady Eagles made three consecutive CIF playoff appearances.  Coach FitzPatrick is also the head coach of the 18U American Athletics softball club.  He has coached on the travel circuit with a number of teams, most notably with Gerry Greene and the nationally ranked 18U Flash D’ Gold.  This past season John managed the 14U American Athletics who placed 17th in the nation in Midland, TX.

Mike Monnahan- Coach Monnahan returns to the varsity squad for his fourth season  as an assistant.  Mike has coached for a number of years in the travel circuit and is recognized as one of the more knowledgeable infield coaches in the CIF southern section.  Coach Monnahan  also was the head coach of the 2007 14U California Cruisers and was responsible for putting together a team that made an appearance at the National Tournament.  He also coached with Mel Sievers on the 18U Gold Cruisers.  Mike also is a registered physical therapist and specializes in sports rehabilitation as well as a conditioning expert in a number of varsity level sports.  Mike worked with NFCA on the implementation of SPARQ which has become the standard softball fitness qualification with college coaches.

Robert Wiebort - Coach Wiebort is starting his first season as an assistant coach with Santa Margarita Catholic High School. Having coached softball for nineteen years his experience will be an asset to the program. Robert has been head Varsity Coach at
La Quinta High School, Irvine High School and Trabuco Hills High School. Coach Wiebort’s most significant accomplishment is his 2000 League Championship with Trabuco Hills High School. Robert has also coached a number of travel teams which include the Outlaws, No Fear, California Cruisers and the American Athletics. Coach Wiebort was also involved with the 14U 2007 California Cruisers that played in the National Tournament in Normal, IL. Coach Wiebort puts softball in perspective as his teams know how to get the job done and still have fun at the same time. "I feel it is a privilege to be involved in a softball program that has so much great history", said Coach Wiebort.  "I will challenge my girls to become better players and people". Robert is an excellent teacher of the game and understands what it takes to be successful at a high level of play.



2009 JV Staff:

Head Coach – Alycia FitzPatrick

Alycia has been an assistant varsity coach for the past four years. She is a graduate of SMCHS, former team captain and three time Trinity League award winner for the Lady Eagles softball team. Alycia attended and graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Ma. She was the recipient of a number of collegiate awards which include: Three time All Conference selection; team MVP, 2004 ranked 18th in the nation Toughest to Strike Out, all time Holy Cross record holder for Slugging and RBI. Alycia is also an assistant coach for the 18U American Athletics.

Assistant Coach – Lyn Christensen

Lyn is currently the Head Coach of the 14U OC Wildcats travel softball club. The Wildcats placed 10th in the country at the recent national tournament in Midland, TX. She is a graduate from Cal Poly Pomona where she played softball all four years, and made two appearances in the Division 1 Women's College World Series. Lyn is committed to demonstrating to her team and their opponents her passion for the game, her softball knowledge and experience, and her desire to teach. Lyn has been married to her husband John for the past twenty-one years and they reside in Trabuco Canyon with their three children.

Manager – Michelle Ford

Michelle begins her forth year managing the JV softball program. She is currently on staff and teaches social studies. Michelle has an excellent rapport with the players and coupled with her organizational skills, she has become a vital component to the softball program. Michelle is married to her husband Jason and they reside in Mission Viejo with their two children.
